About This Item

Flushed With Pride Press. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 2015. Hardcover. 0692217150 . The author, a Benzie Cuonty native and environmental engineer has explored in detail the 19th century plan to build a canal to Crystal Lake in Benzie County for steamboats on Lake Michigan and the environmental effects on the lake after a dam broke and 56 billion gallons of water rushed out of the lake, lowering the lake level by 17 feet. In the second part of the book he examines the background, family and life of Archibald Jones, the promoter of the idea. A huge amount of research went into this book, and it is unlikely to ever be repeated. Original blue cloth publisher's binding with gilt spine and cover lettering. A publisher's trifold brochure relating to this book is loosely laid in. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings. There are no owner bookplates or owner names in the book. The dust jacket in similarly nice condition with no other chips, tears, or markings. This book appears to have been unread. This is a large, heavy book: priority and international shipping will be extra. No indication of edition; but probably a first. ; Color & B&W Photos, Maps, & Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 342, 116 pages .
