About This Item

(New York): Random House, Inc, 1966. Very good plus in like jacket.. First edition, first printing of this colorful journey through the many types of houses around the world, as introduced by the children who live in them. With charming rhyming text by Theo. LeSieg (AKA Dr. Seuss) and vibrant mid-century modern art by Richard Erdoes, COME OVER TO MY HOUSE is a cheerful introduction to the many different forms of home. Erdoes was an Austrian anti-Nazi caricaturist who fled to the US, where he found success as a commercial artist for publications including the NEW YORK TIMES and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC. In many ways, COME OVER TO MY HOUSE feels stylistically and philosophically similar to Disneyland's IT'S A SMALL WORLD ride, which debuted in 1964. A scarcer Seuss title. 9'' x 6.5''. Original color pictorial boards. Original unclipped (195/195) color pictorial dust jacket, with correct list of titles on rear panel (ref. Younger). Red and yellow pictorial endpapers of houses from around the world. Illustrated in color. 64 pages. Jacket with a bit of edgewear, touch of foxing at edges. Binding somewhat bumped at spine. Small erased pencil mark to front flyleaf. Clean and bright.
