Richmond, VA: B. F. Johnson, 1892. SALESMAN'S DUMMY. Hardcover. Fair. Salesman's dummy for this American history book. 1892, in full leather binding with gilt title. The boards show the deluxe leather version of the book, and affixed to the endpapers are examples of the leather spine, as well as the blue cloth binding. Includes 7 color plates and large fold-out panorama of the world's fair. Other textual and b&w illustrated selections too. Salesman's log notes a few sales of the cloth version. This copy in Fair condition with heavy wear and loss to the spine leather; corners bumped and worn. Contents lightly foxed, some tearing. A nice relic of 19th-century door-to-door book selling.
