About This Item

New York: Pynson Printers, Inc. , 1935. First edition. Hardback. Very Good Indeed. 9.5" by 6". Not Stated . The first edition of this attractive American quarterly for booklovers, the first issue of the first volume in the new series of 'The Colophon.' The first edition of the first issue in the new series of The Colophon, an American quarterly periodical for book lovers. Established in 1929 by Elmer Adler, whose idea was to group various printers from all around the world to contribute with articles using their own choice of paper, typography, and illustrations. This new series was produced from 1935 to 1938, with less lofty production values before returning to a higher quality in 1939 with the new graphic series. It ran until 1950. The content was generally of historical issues related to printing, publishing or art, however it typically ranged in style, papers, and typography. This issue includes contributions by Frank Altschul, George W. Davison, Lawrence C. Wroth, Henry W. Kent, and others. Illustrated with some facsimiles and illustrations in text.  In the original publisher's binding with illustrated boards. Externally excellent with only minor shelf wear and a touch of soiling to the rear board. The spine is slightly sunned. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with some facsimiles and illustrations in text. Very Good Indeed
