Known as "T.E.", Colonel Thomas Edward Lawrence was legendary in his leadership among the peoples of the Middle East. The author had intended to write about the Arab Revolt of this era and of World War I, 1914-1918, with a portion about Col. Lawrence. However, his subject became Lawrence at the story's center, a biography. Several newspaper clippings, 1934-1935, are tucked inside covers with related Arab news stories.
