Hardcover Book in Very Good Condition with a Good Dust Jacket. Historical Novel about W. Seaborn Effingham, Colonel U. S. Army, retired, an officer and a gentleman, a citizen of the world. After retiring, he returns to a southern city that had been his home and begins to write columns on military affairs for a newspaper and soon comes into conflict with the forces of tyranny and corruption at City Hall. Binding of navy full cloth with gilt titles and decoration on spine. Front has a tiny white dot, otherwise very clean and unmarked, tight and solid volume; square with sharp corners. Internals also very clean and free of any markings, no creases, lightly toned. Clean, dulled jacket is edge-worn with chipping of spine ends. 279 pages. 5.75 x 8.25 inches. Publisher Duell, Sloan and Pearce, New York, 1943.
