About This Item

Clean copy of "The Collected Verse of LEWIS CARROLL" (The Rev. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson). 1932; Macmillan and Co.; London. The book features illustrations throughout by John Tenniel, Arthur B. Frost, Henry Holiday, Harry Furniss, and Carroll. Gilt top page edges. Ribbon page marker. The dust jacket is made of a sturdy canvas-type material and may have been custom made with title and year in gilt on the spine. The contents are arranged as follows: Early Verse; From Alice's Adventures in Wonderland; Puzzles from Wonderland; From Through the Looking-Glass; Prologues to Plays; Phantasmagoria; From College Rhymes and Notes by an Oxford Chiel; The Hunting of the Snark; Acrostics, Inscriptions, and Other Verses; From Sylvie and Bruno; Three Sunsets and Other Poems. With an Index to First Lines.

From the Preface: "The present volume contains all the verse which appeared in the books by Lewis Carroll published during his lifetime, together with a number of hitherto unpublished juvenile pieces from the original MSS. of 'Useful and Instructive Poetry' and 'The Rectory Magazine,' in addition to many others collected from Collingwood's 'Lewis Carroll Picture-Book' and 'Life and Letters of Lewis Carroll,' and from other works now out of print or not readily accessible."

Condition:
The book is in excellent condition both inside and out and nearly appears unread - clean, white text pages with no issues found. Some light foxing to the end papers and pastedowns, and to the long edge of the text block. Clean covers and spine with no stains; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The dust jacket has some light soiling to the spine, and some patches where the red cloth has faded (these areas are not stains). The book also comes with its original clear foil wrap around the covers (not shown). Overall the book is in great condition.
