Bound in navy blue leather covered boards with decorative gilt design, raised bands, and gilt lettering to the spine, and all edges gilt. Frontispiece self-portrait by Cummings. A fine copy. Edward Estlin Cummings (October 14, 1894 - September 3, 1962), often styled as e e cummings, as he sometimes signed his name, was an American poet, painter, essayist, author, and playwright. He wrote approximately 2900 poems, two autobiographical novels, four plays, and several essays. Cummings' poetry often deals with themes of love and nature, as well as the relationship of the individual to the world. His poems are also often rife with satire. A near fine copy in unopened condition.
