Blue-green cloth boards with elaborate stamped gilt garden scene, insignia, and title to front, and gilt person figure and title to spine. Publisher's gilt edges. Rubbing (finish flaked away) to both boards and rubbing to extremities. Previous owner's signature to front flyleaf. Age-toning to tissue-guard. Very light occasional foxing. A detailed record of the history and types of horse drawn transport along the main travel routes of England. Contents include: The Bath Road - The Exeter Road - The Portsmouth Road - The Brighton Road - The Dover Road - The York Road - The Holyhead Road etc. Vivid descriptions of many hostelries and their clientele abound.
