London: Macmillan and Co, 1888. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Large 4to. [7], xii-xiii, [4], 2-367, [1] pp. Green cloth with gold lettering and decorations on the front board and spine. With illustrations by Herbert Railton and Hugh Thomson: a frontispiece, eighteen additional full-page illustrations, and several in-text illustrations. A fascinating history of travel around England via stagecoach: its roads, the inns along the way, and the horses who pulled the coaches. A Very Good book with a few traces of wear to the extremities, some spotting to the endpapers and pastedowns; hinges strengthened with archival tape.
