London, England: Macmillan and Co, 1888. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Hugh Thomson and Herbert Railton. Quarto, 11.8 in. x 8.4 in., pp. xiii, [3], 367. Illustrated with tissue-guarded frontis amd over 200 additional drawings. Contemporary dark green cloth boards with gilt title and two drawn scenes from the book to front. Gilt title and fishing rod to spine. Untrimmed fore- and bottom-edge. Rubbing to extremities. Fraying to top and bottom of spine. Corners bumped, with top front corner (1/2 in.) missing. Light bubbling to front cover. Interior sharp and unmarked. Tissue-guard is age-toned and has 4 in. x 3 in. open tear. All this, but the book still looks sharp and attractive! Originally published in parts in The English Illustrated Magazine 1887-1888.
