'A Close Run Thing' is the first novel in Mallinson's Matthew Hervey series, with this novel's events taking place before and during the Battle of Waterloo. Matthew Hervey was in the 6th Light Dragoons, and climbed through the ranks. Written by Allan Mallinson, an English author and retired British Army officer. He is best known for his Matthew Hervey novels, of which he has now published thirteen novels, as well as publishing various non-fiction novels about the army.
