About This Item
Citadel Press. New. 1984. Third Printing. Softcover. 0806506695 . This specific softcover book is in new condition with a cover that has sharp edges and corners and has a tight binding. The pages are clean, crisp, unmarked and uncreased. We package all books in custom cardboard book boxes for shipment and ship daily with tracking numbers.; ""Cliffhanger" is Alan G. Barbour's follow-up to his "Days of Thrills and Adventure" and is essentially the same book. With the exception of a few chapters (like an affectionate look at Republic's Dick Tracy serials), it covers the same ground in the same style. But still, it is a fun look at the great movie chapterplays. Like "Days," "Cliffhanger" is a pictorial book. The author presents a treasure trove of production stills, studio portraits, and some behind-the-scene photos. I can remember in my youth spending hours pouring over the sights of a Batman, Superman, and the Green Hornet from a different generation. I was also enthralled by the pictures of high-flying stunt men in the midst of exciting action. All the while, Barbour's gives each chapter an authoritative overview of the best and mediocre of serials. Nothing too deep here as Barbour feels that would spoil all the fun."; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 248 pages .
