The dust jacket is slightly faded in colour on the left-hand margin, and has rubbing with short splits at the top of the fold overs, and a very short tear at the top left of the front panel. Previous owner's name on the blank front end page. The book is illustrated in the main with colour reproductions of artworks, and some black-and-white reproductions of drawings and documents. It includes a chronology of events from 1637 through two 1660, and a glossary of terms used. Published to accompany Channel 4's a six part series, this book recreates the experience of war of those who lived through the tumultuous years of the 1640s, when at times one man in every 10 was under arms and when father could be at war with son.
