New York: Random House, 1995. First Edition. Very Good/Very Good DJ. 8vo = over 9". n/a. Second Printing SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR. Beige boards w/black cloth spine. Top and bottom of spine have faded areas from water damage - inside of front cover, top edge, and front endpaper have small water stain, it continues as a very minute stain in upper edge near spine until the Table of Contents page. Bottom edge of book has some faint staining from the black cloth of spine, does not affect pages of book. Dj is soiled/stained black on inside of dj, some wear on edges. Illustrated endpapers. True story of a legal case in Massachusetts involving toxins from a nearby factory polluting the groundwater and drinking water- turned into a movie starring John Travolta. This is a second stated printing w/dj quote by John Grisham. On title page are two inscriptions: top inscription says "To Alan, You know all too well what it means to try and serve the truth. My very best to you and your family, 12/4/95 Jim or John - capital J with line after" , second inscription - "For Alan - Happy Litigating! With best wishes. Jonathan Harr, 12/4/95"

For the film starring John Travolta, see A Civil Action (film) A Civil Action is a 1996 non-fiction novel by Jonathan Harr depicting the real-life water contamination case in Woburn, Massachusetts in the 1980s. The book became a best-seller and won the National Book Critics Circle Award for nonfiction. The case is Anderson v. Cryovac. The first reported decision in the case is at 96 F.R.D. 431 (denial of defendants' motion to dismiss).

The large double-door front entrance will lead you to our main floor where we hold a wide range of fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as a good selection of scarce and rare editions. The original fireplace is surrounded by hardbacks and you can peer out the original nine-foot windows. Take the staircase to the basement and you will find our large children's section and many shelves full of paperbacks. Our physical address is 225 College Highway/Route 10. Our mailing address is 241 College Highway & Clark St. P.O. Box 100 Southampton, MA 01073. The store hours indicated are by appointment only Monday through Friday, and Saturday and Sunday you can stop in. Please call to schedule an appointment if you can't make it to the store on the weekends from 11 am to 3 pm.
