First edition. "This wonderful chronicle of Florence is worthy of the City and its lucky inhabitants. Reading it is the next best thing to being there" Paul Theroux. Lewis approaches his subject with an eye on both the historical and contemporary characteristics of Florence and the Florentines and creates an interesting mix of past and present. The book is very nicely produced with good illustrations, a bibliography of sources, and informative descriptions of the illustrations, all of which appears at the end of the book.
