Departing from his previous collections of poems celebrating rural life, such as in his "Farm Ballads," Mr. Carleton turns his attention to city people and stories. With 16 plates bearing black & white illustrations by various artists. --- In maroon cloth-covered boards with cover illustration and titling in cream to cover; gilt-stamped spine titling. Volume lacks a dust jacket. --- The plate facing p.6 has been affixed to front free endpaper, with minor wear to cover extremities and discoloration to endpapers, else a tightly-bound, sound copy.; 12mo - 7 to 7-1/2 in. tall; xix, 164 pages .
