Irving's sixth novel, the basis for the film starring Michael Caine and Toby Maguire, is the story of Dr. Wilber Larch, founder and director of an orphanage in St. Cloud, Maine, an ether addict and abortionist; and of Homer Wells, Dr. Larch's favorite orphan, who is never adopted. Small ink stamp on front end page, several small, light stains on text edges, o/w clean, tight, square; dustjacket shows very minor surface and edgewear.
Synopsis
The Cider House Rules is a 1985 novel by John Irving. It has been adapted into a film of the same name and a stage play by Peter Parnell.
