First edition. Printed for Richard Phillips. London, 1805. 4to. xiv, 487, (1)pp. 1 engraved map, 20 hand coloured plates. Later half calf, marbled boards, raised bands to spine, in six compartments with gilt motifs and lettering, title label with gilt lettering. Some variable foxing and offsetting. Small spot between lines on p 61. Signature "Westmorland" in pencil to ffep.
The beautiful hand coloured plates in slightly smaller format on heavier paper depict the costume of various segments of Peruvian society.

London: Printed for the Proprietor, 1797-1808.. 16 Volumes. 8vo (actually a small 4to.), the volumes measure just under 5 x 8 inches. 19th century tree-calf, spines designed in gilt, lettered in gilt on panels of black. A few slightly cracked hinges and modest shelf wear, a very nice clean set. This is a uniform binding of two separate sets; the first set, of ten volumes, has the legend "Barr's Buffon" at the head of the title page. The second set, of six volumes, is issued anonymously. In all, 136 plates, most coloured by hand. Internally very fresh, almost no foxing to be seen. Typically, the plates are not in the exact order given in the individual volumes. In this case, the final (supplement) volume contains several plates which are listed in earlier volumes, but not present there. One plate from Volume 11 (a Parrot?) appears never to have been bound-in. In all a clean and attractive set of Buffon, quite handsome.

Canton. , 1862. Stabbed and stitched plain wraps, paper labels, contemporary wooden case with ribbon ties. . Very good, some soiling a wrinkling to paper labels, a little soling to covers, ends of ribbon ties frayed.. 28x16 cm. . Very scarce. "It is written by the author, a native of Canton province, in the Canton dialect, chiefly to suit the Canton people who have transactions, or are connected, with foreigners. The words are first given in Chinese; then pronunciation of such words, written in English; then the meaning of such words in the English language; and lastly, the pronunciation of the English will enable foreigners to learn Chinese. As the words are arranged under different headings, references can easily be made. This book also contains a copy of the Tariff, and many other useful tables, such as times and seasons, weights and measures, &c.”. Heavy book, weight: 3.2 lb. may require extra shipping.

Signed by Nehru on the half-title page without date or inscription. Soundly bound in original gray paper covered boards, blind stamped with a reptile skin pattern and lettered in black to cover and spine. Lightly shelf bumped and rubbed to corners. Light toning to spine and board edges. Contents clean, unmarked and neat with expected mild toning to the glossy paper stock. Illustrated with b&w figures and reprodcuctions in text. Composed as a series of letters to his daughter Indira, the chapters outline a history of the world for an engaged and curious child. True First Edition with 1934 on Main Title Page and on the copyright page with no other printings listed. No Markings, beautiful green stained top page ends, other page ends are a touch off(light age toning) inside covers front ok but back is showing some browning, not much. NO WEAR, Sharp Corners, unread tightness and very square, light bruising to spine ends, did I mention No Visible WEAR. BUT the brown cloth covers are cloudy (only way I know to describe it), it is not all the same shade, its 2 shades of brown and no distinct pattern like a cloud...DJ: is ligthly faded because red fades with tim, it is slightly soiled keeping it from being as bright as new, light rubbing and light edgewear, a very very small chip just above the W in Now not effecting the letters. With light edgewear a long the edges and the corners, it is 99.90 complete except it does not have the fold out Reviews from inside front flap (my other one listed does).
