Subtitle: 'Containing an account of the Cruel Civil Wars between the Houses of Orleans and Burgundy; of the Possession of Paris and Normandy by the English; their expulsion thence; and of other Memorable events that happened in the Kingdom of France, as well as in other countries. A history of fair example, and of great profit to the French. Beginning at the year MCCCC, where that of Sir John Froissart finishes, and ending at the year MCCCCLXVIII., and continued by others to the year MDXVI.' Three-quarter brown leather worn where spine and covers join and top and bottom, gilt printing on spine, raised bands, front hinge vol. 1 weak, green cloth boards, end papers darkened but not foxed. Very clean, unmarked, tight copy in almost very good condition, colored half title at volume I, many nice engravings. This edition is A reissue of Thomas Johnes' esteemed translation of the "Chronicles of Monstrelet", first published at his own press at Hafod House in Wales in 1809, this new edition differs chiefly in its plentiful illustrations. Rare. A nice companion set to Froissart's Chronicles which is also available. Seller will cover the cost of additonal postage.
