A very smart, first UK edition copy of this historical account of the conquest of Granada, published the same year as the true first US edition. A fascinating and comprehensive historical account of the conquest of Granada in Spain, from the MSS. Fray Antonio Agapida. Complete in two volumes. Written by noted eighteenth and nineteenth century American writer Washington Irving, most well-known for his work The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1820). The first UK edition, published the same year as the true first US edition.Handsomely and uniformly bound in half calf. This copy was previously housed at the Torquay Book Society Library, with library bookplates to the front pastedowns of each volume and stamps to the title pages, as expected.Bound without half title pages or the publisher's adverts to the rear of Volume II. Handsomely and uniformly bound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally, smart, with some light shelf wear to the boards and rubbing to the spines, joints, and extremities. Front joint to Volume I is starting at the head, and rear joint to Volume II is starting at the head. Library bookplates to the front pastedowns of each volume, and library stamps to the title pages of each volume. Internally, front hinges are strained. Remaining binding is firm. Light instances of scattered spots to the pages, not affecting readability. Very Good
