London: John Snow & Co., 1869. Cloth. Very Good. 5 x 7 1/4 inches. viii + 328 pages. Pages occasionally lightly foxed or stained. 19th Century ownership inscription from Carnarvon, Wales. Illustrated with numerous topical engravings. Bound in maroon cloth now wrinkled and worn, with black spine label bearing gilt title. An interesting Congregationalist periodical in counterpoint to the established "ritualist" Church of England, containing discussions of temperance (26) and "women's" work (236-237), missionary activities in China (27), a Puritan Sabbath (45), DL Moody and Charles Spurgeon (55), prison conditions (187), the state of the church in the Americas (185, 222-23), and other contemporary accounts.
