Boston: Howard Gannett, 1884. Very early printing (second thousand) dated 1884. A series of short profiles of women representing the best of Christian womanhood. Includes: Mary Fletcher; Mary Hall; Mary Boyles Browne; Elizabeth, Last Duchess of Gordon; Harriet Perfect; Mary Ker; Mary Calvert; Anna Backhouse; and Frances Ridley Havergal. Green cloth printed in black and in gilt, 350 pages plus advertisements. Light external wear, mainly some rubbing to the corners and spine ends, good hinges, firm text block, clean pages with a couple of margins tanned from flowers being pressed there, names in pencil on first blank. A very clean and attractive copy.. Hard Cover. Good/No. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
