(date is from Blackmer) Original publishers full morocco, smooth back with gilt title and gilt vignettes, covers with gilt title and centre piece with large volute corner pieces, gilt roll to edges, blind roll to inner edges, with a.e.g. Slightly rubbed to extremities, small amount of loss to gilt centre piece on lower cover, otherwise quite bright and clean. Internally the text is quite bright and clean, the additional engraved title is browned and foxed, the plates are foxed and lightly stained to edges and sometimes to image, previous owner's name to ffep. Complete with map, additional engraved title and seventy-eight plates by Bartlett. Blackmer 1603, (Lot 1018 in the Sotheby's catalogue); Tobler, page 167. First Edition. Full Morocco. Good. Illus. by Bartlett, W.H.. 4to.
