A smart first edition of this illustrated collection of stories from American fantasy author, James Branch Cabell. First edition. Illustrated with twelve colour plates. Collated complete. A collection of short stories including: The Story of the Sestina, The Story of the Rat-Trap, The Story of the Housewife, The Story of the Scabbard, and The Story of the Fox-Brush. Written by James Branch Cabell, an American author of fantasy fiction and belles-lettres. Previously held in the library of Eileen Marjorie Dowell Henderson, the wife of Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Vivian Leonard Henderson MC, a British army officer and Conservative Party politician who was elected to the House of Commons three times, for three different constituencies. In the original decorated red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Minor fraying to the head of the spine. Light fading to the spine and the odd very small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd handling mark. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper. Very Good
