About This Item

London: Harrison and Co, 1781. two 18th century novels bound in one, published as volume 5 of The Novelists' Magazine, published by Harrison and co, illustrated. Presumably contemporary full calf, hinges cracked, held by the cords, text block tight but with some foxing, text is in the form of two columns to the page. The 'magazine' was started in 1780, and lasted until 1788, in all consisting of 23 volumes. It sold weekly in parts, priced 6d, and the production values are clearly lower than the more pricy 18th C. norm. The illustrator was Thomas Stothard, and the engraver was James Heath.. No Edition Stated. Full-Leather. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
