Known as Lianhuanhua from the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, these picture books are illustrated on every page with a few lines of text beneath. Many of the images glorify the Red Guard and have obvious propaganda content, showing Members helping people from the countryside by curing medical conditions, solving farming problems, distributing copies of the Little Red Book, etc. A fascinating look at propaganda in children's books.
