About This Item

Stanford, Cal: Stanford University Press, 1968. Book. Fine. Hardcover. First Thus. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. A fine, unread copy with no edge wear and no prior owner marks. Dust jacket has only a hint of wear at the corners. Based on thousands of military intelligence reports, this was first compiled in 1945 as an attempt to understand the Communists in China and determine a policy course after the war. It had not been unclassified at the 1968 time of this publication. It is a classic of objective clarity, and quite scarce. This was published earlier in a different form, as an appendix of the1951 Senate hearings..
