(Book- portfolio of plates and text pages loose in binding, no sign of glue residue to cloth spine so possibly as issued, no previous owner name or insc. Minor rubbing to edges of some pages but no nicks or tears and contents clean. Dust Jacket - 10 mm approx tear to top front panel else no notable defects and now in a removable proprietary protective sleeve. 2 cm loss of card to one of the longest edges and a little tanned and rubbed. No other notable defects).

Slipcase worn, soiled, with long edges missing, age toning, some spine tears, loss to spine of dustjacket, text block loose but all complete, with some age toning to edges.[736] . First edition (first printing). A very good copy in pale green cardboard covers with label on front cover. Pages are loose from glued bindings. Prints are near fine. Illustrated wrapper with color print pasted to front cover. Wrappers are darkened, print has 2 inch closed tear at mid-bottom and closed tear on right-hand margin. Wrapper edges have closed tears and edge chips not affecting text. Portions of the wrapper spine are missing.

A treatise on calligraphy and painting of the Ten Bamboo Studio, including discussion of Chinese writing and ink, seals, woodcuts and two-colour prints, and a great deal of general and technical information on the subject of Chinese prints.
