Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, showing Wushan Gorge on the upper Yangtze. At the beginning of the text are 4 maps showing the Chinese provinces. The text is illustrated with 16 black-and-white photographs and 30 black-and-white text figures or maps within the text. Dark blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt titles to the text. A little bumping to the text block edges and rubbing to the book corners. Browning to the text block edges and light age toning of the internal text. Some handling marks to the endpapers and original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Some handling marks to the front fore paper edge. A look at China before the Communist revolution, specifically the human anthropology of this vast land. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
