Viking Press New York., 1975. First Edition, 2nd Printing.. Hard Cover.. Very Fine/VG. 9 1/2 x 6 3/4 x 1 1/4.. NON SMOKING STORE. My listing includes PHOTO OF ACTUAL BOOK for sale. Book looks NEVER READ. Book VERY FINE, Dust Jacket Very Good. Dust jacket is NOT PRICE CLIPPED and has only minor creases and chips. Being white it is a bit marked by adjacent books, is also a bit age darkened. DJ spine has minor chipping at top, a 1/2 inch tear at bottom and a thin black line across (owner’s code, not a remainder mark). Front fold has a small chip, front cover has small piece of a price tag. Sewn binding. Boards are light tan with spine and 1/3 of boards in red cloth with orange and black lettering. Book is clean, tight, bright with slight bit of shelf mark on bottom edge of boards, and a small 1/16 inch x 1/4 inch light brown mark on top page edges. Rag edge pages. No illustrations. No photos. Black/white map. John K. Fairbank says: This book is an inside account of foreign services officers who reported conscientiously and were hounded out of the Foreign Service because China’s revolution proceeded as they correctly foresaw it would. Their persecution in the 1950’s was one manifestation of the same kind of American policy-insanity that took us through Vietnam. Fifty five thousand lives later the China Hands have received some meagre vindication.

IMPORTANT RE POSTAGE: I'm in Canada so books to the USA/Other Countries are International shipments and may be delayed by CUSTOMS and/or HOMELAND SECURITY. I'm using the Biblio standard postage matrix, which gives average postage fees, therefore sometimes for an OVERSIZE or LARGE heavy book or expensive book, the postage may be too low and may require extra charges. If I know this in advance, I will notify the buyer before the order is processed.
This is not a huge book warehouse, it is a small one-owner store run by a true book lover. POSSIBLE DELAYS: I'm elderly and disabled and while this usually does not cause a delay in order processing, it sometimes may cause a small delay for me to get to the post office.
