Minor flecks on black cloth, blind embossed publisher's logo on rear board. Bright gilt title on lightly bumped backstrip. Signed and dated [April '97] by author on halftitle page, free front endpaper removed, plus foxing flecks on textblock edges. Art-illustrated [Susanna Bott], kraft paper backed dustjacket nipped, dampstained edges, plus general soiling. 'A Book Society recommendation'. Told with an anguished urgency is Morris West's appeal for Father Borrelli, and his desperate plight to help the destitute and homeless boys of Naples-aged from six to sixteen, perpetually hungry, they sleep in doorways, beg and steal as best they can, unprotected by the State-they are the urchins of Naples-Children of the Sun.Contents: Three 'parts' and Envoi.
