Small Octavo. x + 281 pp, previous owner's faint stamped name on ffep, b&w tissued frontis of tolstoi, translator's preface, In 3 titled Parts, each subtitled "A Novel", 5.4" x 7.8" black cloth boards with gilt cover and spine letters and design. Binding tight, with very slight forward lean, pages clean unmarked & well-preserved, text block slightly darkened with age, cover cloth shows very light wear at head/tail spine tips & board forecorner tips. .
