London: Methuen , 1935. 4th Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Fourth edition 1935. Book is tight clean and square. Boards sharp and clean, Spine has few areas of colour loss, bumping to head and foot, with some minor rubbing. Few spots to pages, and to the toned text block edges. Previous owners name in pencil crossed out in biro to FEP. Tightly bound in very good condition. No Jacket. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. A solid reader example of this 1935 printing of a classic Burroughs Mars novel.
Synopsis
The Chessmen of Mars is an Edgar Rice Burroughs science fiction novel, the fifth of his famous Barsoom series. Burroughs began writing it in January, 1921, and the finished story was first published in Argosy All-Story Weekly as a six-part serial in the issues for February 18 and 25 and March 4, 11, 18 and 25, 1922. It was later published as a complete novel by A. C. McClurg in November, 1922.
