About This Item

New York:: Corinthian Publications, 1946.. 1st Edition.. Hardbound . BINDING/CONDITION: brown buckram with white text; a Very Good+ book, with a Good dust jacket; the jacket is price clipped.. 4to (about 11 inches tall) . Photo endpapers. Description: This copy is Signed by the photographer. Foreword and captions by E Milby Burton. Photographer F S Lincoln was also known for his studies of the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia and of Mont St Michel on the coast of France. From the foreword: ''Much of the great charm of Charleston lies in its architecture. The old buildings, together with Charleston's manners, customs, and people all add up to produce that indefinable something called atmosphere. It is Charleston's peculiar charm that F S Lincoln has undertaken to capture through the lens of his camera. Mr. Lincoln has not limited himself to the photography of outstanding or unusual buildings; his pictures show also some of the less famous but none the less interesting, and in many cases, characteristic house and gateways that are scatted throughout the city.''
