The front hinge is cracked, however the cover is firmly attached. There is a name and date (Aug 10th/04) printed on the front end paper. The cover has some scuffing, small soil spots and cloth bleaching on the bottom corner tips. No date of publication mentioned, but appears to be late 1800s or early 1900s. 2 volumes in 1 book..

Illustrated, marbled endpaper s. A Very good copy. Rubs/frays to the corners. Rubbing along the head and the heel of the spine. Tiny splits to the upper spine tips. The f ront fly leaf is detached but included. Mild tanning to the pages. .

London : Ward, Lock, 1910. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1910. No Edition Remarks. 628 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with gilt lettering. Light tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Light cracking to gutters and hinges causing prominent looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft fraying and crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

New York - London: George Routledge and Sons. Hardcover. Good. 5 x 7 1/2. 742 pages + 14 of ads; unmarked. Pages have age spotting throughout, mostly end pages. Front pages have started to separate from hinge but still intact. Frontispiece. Page edges have age darkened. Dark red cloth boards have gilt lettering and neat décor. Boards show some wear with bumps and fading, especially spine. GOOD MINUS.

Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning.

Minor tanning to pages with heavier foxing and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Pen inscriptions to front pastedown and endpaper with slight dog-eared pages throughout. Heavy tanning to text block edges and both hinges are cracked with exposed netting. There is cracks to guttering. Boards have visible edge wear and rubbing with noticeable bumping to corners. Tears to spine ends and splitting to joints.

Minimal bumping at ends of spine area and corners. Very minor general shelf wear to boards. Gold gilt top page edges. Black end pages with a few short words written in pencil on the back end page. Gift inscription on 4th front page. Pages ar tight but the book will lay open. Pages are clean/unmarked. 494 pages.
