(Subject: The English Civil Wars & Jacobite Rebellions) The Life of Charles from his birth in 1630, first born of Charles I and Henrietta Maria. During the Civil war he supported his father fighting mainly in the West Country most notably at the Battle of Edgehill. Exiled to the Scilly Isles, Jersey and then France, he was restored to the throne in 1660 with the aid of General Monck, but parliament was stronger and overuled his attempts to bring more religious tolerance with the Act of Indulgence.
