New York: Crowell, 1958. 1st ed. Hardcover. Very good plus. Cooney, Barbara. 1st. Small 4to, full red cloth with black rooter to front panel. Illustrated by the author, the 1959 Caldecott medal winner. Fine in good plus dj with correct $3.00 price on jacket flap, but also a closed tear to front panel, light wear to top and bottom of dj spine and the medal sticker to front panel. Neat gift inscription dated Christmas 1965 facing half title, no other owner's marks.
Synopsis
In the children's book Chanticleer and the Fox, Barbara Cooney adapted the story of The Nun's Priest's Tale from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and illustrated it. Released by Crowell in 1958, it was the recipient of the Caldecott Medal for illustration in 1959.
