About This Item

Palo Alto: Palo Alto Resistance, 1967. Pamphlet. [8p.], staplebound pamphlet, 5.5x8.5 inches, staples heavily rusted, pen underling and notation on rear wrap else good condition. "this is an unedited, official Selective Service System memorandum." Per textual note, "'Channeling' was one of 10 documents in an 'orientation kit' put out July, 1965, by the SSS. It was withdrawn, perhaps because of the outrage it engendered." In highminded bafflegab, anonymous author appears to be recommending ever more refined social controls that will "channel" young people to perfectly serve the state, whether in the armed services or elsewhere (who not to draft, as well as who to, bureaucratically and scientifically determined).
