New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1948. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 8.75" by 6". None. A signed first edition of Morris Bishop's biography of Samuel de Champlain. Bound in cloth with Gilt lettering and unclipped dustwrapper. First edition. Signed by the author. Samuel de Champlain (c. 1580 1635) "The Father of New France", was a French navigator, cartographer, draughtsman, soldier, explorer, geographer, ethnologist, diplomat and chronicler. He founded Quebec City on July 3, 1608, and served as its administrator for the rest of his life. Morris Gilbert Bishop (1893 1973) was an American scholar, historian, biographer, author, and humorist. In a cloth binding in the original dustwrapper. The binding is tight and firm. There is slight wear to the extremities, including bumping. The dustwrapper has several closed tears, a couple of which have been repaired with tape on the reverse side. Internally the pages are clean and bright. Very Good
