About This Item

New York: G. Schirmer, 1911. This ex-library book, with library markings, on front and rear endpapers and spine, is nonetheless in Very Good- condition. It is bound in a solid hard cover library binding, and the exterior covers show scuffing and library markings and hand-lettering on the spine, as well as an inch slit in the spine cloth seam. The binding is tight and secure. The endpapers have ex-library markings. However, the the music itself is clean, with no marks or underlinings, except that one page, Page 21, was torn by an overly energetic page-turning pianist in the distant past, and the tear was repaired with acidic cellophane tape that has browned. The Russian composers, whose music for piano and voice is represented here include Arensky, Balakirew, Borodin, Cui, Dargomijsky, Glazunoff, Glinka, Moussorgsky, Rachmanioff, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rubinstein, and Tchaikovsky. There are 50 songs in all. The lyrics are all in English translation, with some additional German and French translations as well. The book includes an Introduction to the composers and their music by the editor. The book measures 9 3/8 by 12 1/2 inches and includes 239 pages. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good-/No Jacket. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.
