New York: The Century Co, 1895. Wraps. Good. Illustrated wraps. Black and white illustrations and photos throughout. Single issue of this magazine containing, fiction, history, science and other articles. Of note in this issue is an illustrated article on a new flying machine by US inventor Hiram Maxim, known as the inventor of the first portable machine gun, among other inventions. This details the construction and failed test of the machine, being what appears to be an early overbuilt airplane. With a piece "Jade" by Edith Wharton, and a section on festivals in American colleges for women. GOOD condition. Minor spotting, staining and soiling, mostly to the front cover. Splitting, chipping, tearing and loss along the spine and hinges, with a piece also missing from the lower edge of the rear cover. Minor toning in the interior.
