Octavo (20.5cm); hunter green paper-covered boards, with titles stamped in gilt on spine; teal topstain; dustjacket; [8],9-138,[6]pp. Bookplate signed by the author loosely laid in. Tiny patch of fading and some scattered foxing to topstain, else clean internally; Near Fine. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced £3.50 net), with some light wear to crown and a small horizontal tear at upper left corner of front panel; Near Fine, without the usual sunning to the spine panel. The Booker Prize-winning author's first novel, centered around a group of children - aged 6-17 - who attempt to live on their own after the death of their parents. Basis for Andrew Birkin's 1993 film of the same name, starring Andrew Robertson and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Synopsis

Ian McEwan has written two collections of stories, as well as many novels and screenplays. He won the 1998 Booker Prize for Amsterdam , and was shortlisted for the 2001 Booker Prize for Atonement .
