About This Item

London: A.H. Bullen, 1902. Originally published in 1893, Yeats made additions for the second printing. "I have desired, like every artist, to create a little world out of the beautiful, pleasant, and significant things of this marred and clumsy world." This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition Thus (Second Printing). Usually seen in blue cloth, this is a variant binding (perhaps transitional) with umber paper-covered boards, a linen spine with a paper label. Uncommon to scarce. Clean text; x, 235 pages, with the poem "Into the Twilight" serving nicely as a coda on the last page. Frontis portrait of Yeats. There is typical foxing to the endpapers; spine has darkened, rubbed at the head and foot of the spine. The paper spine label is darkened and chipped, but a fresh, bright label is tipped onto the rear paste-down. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Thus.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
