Complete set of the 18 sixpenny parts ( Part I states to be completed in about 12 sixpenny fortnightly parts), in original thin card wraps, published circa 1900 during the Boer War. They were first issued in the "Navy & Army Illustrated" in 1895. Each issue contains a page of biographical detail and a full-page colour portrait of an outstanding commander. Includes Sir Redvers Buller, S. S. Baden-Powell, Viscount Wolseley, Lord Kitchener of Khartoum & Lord Roberts. In Red or Light Green card wraps with black type and central sword design to fronts. Advert for Fry's Cocoa on the rear cover. Slight wear to covers. Staples rusted. Plates in very good, clean condition. Part I is disbound but complete.
