About This Item
London: Collins, 1944. First Edition . Hardcover. Good/Poor. The interior of the book is clean and complete. The paper is lightly tanned, and a former owner has added his library stamps to the fixed front and rear end papers as well as the title page. The purple cloth covers show moderate wear and fading at the edges. The dust jacket is in Poor condition, with wear and serious paper loss at the top and bottom of the spine. The attached scan should give a better idea of condition. Synopsis: "Norman Conquest starts his latest adventure on a windswept moorland road in Yorkshire where he is fortunately able to render some assistance to a very attractive girl cyclist, who has met with an accident. The girl turns out to be the daughter of an earl and when Norman drives her home to the nearby parental castle he finds her father and irascible old nobleman, just the sort of characters who arouses his interest. Obviously there is something far wrong in the castle . with a mysterious west wing info which entry is forbidden.
