US: Little Brown & Co, 1951. First Edition, Third Printing. Hardback. Very Good/Good +. First Edition, Third Printing. Black cloth over boards with gilt particulars and decoration to spine. Pages are clean and unmarked. Text block is sunned with light soiling to top edge; light shadow at front and rear pastedown. Boards are lightly soiled with signs of shelf wear; bumping to top edge; rubbing and bumping to corners and ends of spine. Dust jacket has creasing and rubbing to edges and chipping to corners; sunning to spine with chipping and rubbing to headcap and moderate chip at tail. Light foxing to rear cover and moderate creasing at lower edge of rear cover. Dust jacket is covered in a protective mylar jacket.

Since its publication with a $3.00 sticker, it has reportedly sold more than 65 million copies. The novel's antihero, Holden Caulfield, has become a cultural icon for teenage rebellion.
