About This Item

Chicago: Electric Appliance Company, 1897. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good. First Edition. 567 pages (plus additional tipped in pages). 8vo. 7 x 10 1/4 inches. Publisher's red cloth with black embossed lettering. Minor soiling to the covers and page edges. Clearly used, but still sound. Cloth. A copiously illustrated general catalog of electrical supplies from this Chicago firm. Designed as a "living" catalog, there are multiple yellow sheets tipped in with additions to the original catalog.

This is a particularly important period of time in America's industrial revolution, with new electrical services spreading across the country. This catalog includes lighting, light bulbs, small motors for the home in addition to industrial applications like telephone pole fixtures, etc. New innovations like the Packard Crookes Tubes (for producing Roentgen Rays), Bernstein series lamps, Theatre dimmers, arc light and station supplies, test instruments, fans, telegraph relays, batteries, and packard lamps with 8 styles of bases, etc.

Only a few catalogues from this company found in OCLC/Worldcat. Not in Romaine or Davis and Dreyfus.
