About This Item
The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:
Mignon G. Eberhart: American writer of mysteries, suspense and romance, Eberhart had one series, featuring sleuth Sarah Keate, with a total of seven books published between 1929 and 1954. She also wrote 53 non-series novels, the last published in 1988, when she was 89 years old. Eberhart died in 1996.
Janice Law: An American writer , Law was one of the first to feature a female detective. Law has published 22 novels, one collection of short stories and two omnibus editions. Her two detective series feature Anna Peters (9) and Francis Bacon (6). This is the fourth Anna Peters novel.
Bill Pronzini: Pronzini wrote about 130 novels, novellas and collections, under a number of pen names, while also compiling 90 anthologies of short stories. His most famous character is the Nameless Detective. This is the sixth of 41 featuring the Nameless Detective.
