[Japan].. (Circa1907).. Carte de visite 8.6 x 5.8cm on a plain card mount 8.9 x 6cm, gilt edges, laid onto a pebbled olive studio card with a blind-stamped frame and rippled edges, gilt- embossed signature of the photographer K. Masuhara at the foot, the portrait slightly scuffed, mount slightly spotted and marked on the verso. "Dad as a student in Japan 1907" in graphite on the verso. A handsome image of a young Japanese man in costume.

From the collection of the late Arthur Hacker MBE, noted collector, artist, historian, author and creator of an endearing emblem of 1970s Hong Kong - the litterbug Lap Sap Chung. .
